Of course I love eating cheese! But I love talking to people about cheese even more. I graduated from Chef School in 2005 and started working with a very successful distributor of Canadian artisanal cheese. It was the best schooling available. I had the opportunity to work with retailers such as McEwan’s, Pusateri’s, Loblaws and many more. Over the years I have travelled to Italy to see Parmigiano-Reggiano being made, visited the caves that house Gruyere and frolicked with the sheep in New Zealand. Each trip has opened my eyes to the importance of cheese in the world. I love what I do… eating cheese, talking cheese, dreaming cheese…

My love of cheese began at a Tesco in London. In the grocery aisle of this UK grocery store I came across a French cheese called Ossau Iraty. Little did I know this “discovery” was about as obvious as discovering an Italian wine called “Chianti”. But hey, I was learning and more importantly I was hooked.
I am currently a Toronto-based food writer and the cheese columnist for The Globe and Mail. I also host the Globe’s Chef Basics video series. I am a regular contributor to the Foodnetwork.ca and write about cheese (and other edibles) on my blog cheeseandtoast.com. My most recent, and exciting cheese adventure is as a member of the jury for the Canadian Cheese Grand Prix.

About 10 years ago, I left my career in Photography/Pre-Press, to treat a Food Network/cookbook addiction by pursuing a new career in food. Along this new adventure, I discovered the fascinating world of cheese, earning my Professional Fromager designation at George Brown College. I’ve sourced, mongered, taught and promoted cheese for several great food shops in Toronto including Whole Foods, All The Best and Summerhill market and happiest when sharing my knowledge and love of food with others. I am currently on the organizing committee for the Canadian Cheese Awards and Night Market 2018 coming to Toronto in June, and a member of the Toronto Cheese Guild. My desert island cheeses include:fudgy, crunchy, umami laden Comté; lusciously funky La Tur aaaaaand Baby Bell.
